You CAN Teach An Old Dog New Tricks

“If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change.”

~Michael Jackson

Recently an old friend of mine told me about how her Dad just had a stroke, almost died, and was in the hospital…

I’d met her Dad before and he is seriously overweight.

After offering my condolences I started giving her strategies to help improve her Dad’s help…

Like get him to exercise every day…

Get him to stop eating junk food…

Etc, etc, until she just got frustrated and said “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”

Well maybe she can’t get her Dad to change his ways but I refuse to believe that he or any human is incapable of making positive changes…

What I should have realized is her Dad is probably stubborn when it comes to listening to her and this was likely why she was frustrated by my advice.

Instead of recommending healthy tips to give to her Dad I should advised her to tell him he should start seeing healthy coaches.

A nutritionist could help him fix his diet and a personal trainer could help him get into the habit of exercising daily…

And with the right coaches he could minimize his chances of ending up in the hospital again and significantly improve the quality of his life.

If you can’t teach an old dog new tricks it’s probably because you’re not a dog trainer…

Any dog trainer who knows what they are doing can teach a dog of any age new tricks.

Of course humans can learn new tricks too.

There is nothing stopping you from making positive improvements and taking your life to the next level.

And it definitely helps to have the right coaches along the way.
