Eben Pagan is a highly successful internet marketer with a strong grasp on human psychology. If you’re looking for information about how to amp up the percieved value of the products you offer watch the videos below, accompanied with my notes, and you’ll be glad you did.
Eben is the founder of Doubleyourdating.com, currently makes over eight figures a year, and has grossed over $100,000,000 in total sales!
In the first video Eben talks about how to do Marketing that increases the perceived value of everything you offer.
He covers three mindsets that can help or hinder your marketing success.
Mindset #1: Scarcity Thinking
Get rid of the scarcity mindset. Stop thinking about how to get money from people and start thinking about how you can deliver massive value to people without expecting something directly in return.
Mindset #2: Learn to Love the Short End of the Stick
Eben thinks most people are selfish and don’t give value away because they cannot justify not giving without getting in return. The thing about giving value away is that although you are not guaranteed to get something in return you are building powerful relationships that can easily become profitable relationships.
An excellent point in this first video is that it is easier to give $100 of value to one million people and then ask for $10, than it is to simply try to get $1 from one million people.
Mindset #3: Don’t Keep your best ideas secret
This is a great tip. The best idea is nothing without action to back it up.
Marketing Method: Moving the free line.
This is something that I believe in strongly. I am sure I could be selling my Social Media Strategy Guide, but instead I give it away to everyone who joins my newsletter in order to build more relationships with people.
If you can give away fantastic value for free then people will want to buy from you because if you give away fantastic value, the products you sell must be awesome!
Eban talks about delivering the most valuable newsletter possible. I have this same mindset about my newsletter and this is why I recommend that everyone signs up.
The third video is almost entirely about naming businesses and products, the importance of which cannot be understated.
Eban articulates two main components of what he thinks makes a catchy name that will get stuck in your head and be impossible to forget.
Alliteration and rhyming are the two literary devices that Eban thinks make a catchy name.
The examples he gives to back up this claim impressed upon me so much that I am calling into question the names of my own brands, and I will certainly keep these naming conventions in mind for future products and brands I create.
After watching these videos I was curious to learn more about Eban so I checked out his business Double your Dating and impressive as it is I was taken aback by the way he calls himself by his pen name as if it were his real name. Eban Pagan is original enough, I think he should have stuck with that, despite its lack of alliteration. I trust Eban much less than I would have if he used his real name for everything he did. Nonetheless he still seems to be a brilliant Marketer.
